In the 109 years of Rotary history, this is the first time for Rotary to have a Chinese President – Gary C.K. Huang. Since his taking office on July 1st, RI President Gary and Mrs Corinna Huang officially visited our District 3450 between 14-17/8 where he first landed in Macau on the 14th of August. Upon his arrival in Macao, President Gary led a delegation consisting of District Governor Belinda, District Officers and the 5 Presidents of Rotary Clubs in Macao to officially visit the Chinese Liaison Office meeting the Secretary General Choi and The Secretary of Social and Cultural Affairs of Macao SAR, Mr Cheong U.

Joint Meeting Highlights:

In the evening, our Club was the host of the Area 1 Joint Meeting with other 5 clubs in Macau in honour of RI President Gary and Mrs Corinna Huang. Nearly 110 Rotarians, Rotaractors, HK District Officers and guests joined together for a big welcome to RI President Gary accompanied by Aide to RI President Rotary Director-Elect Federick Lin, DG Belinda, DGE Peter, DGN Eric and PDGs. In his address, RI P Gary shared with us many interesting stories of his close connection with Macau dating back to the then-District 345 with Taiwan, HK and Macao under him as DG. The evening ended with a happy climax of RI P Gary leading us in singing the ‘ Light Up Rotary’ song in Taiwanese in a ‘star-studded’ hall with everyone waving their LED light like little fans.

On 15th August, they visited the Macao Fu Hong Society. He was impressed by the services they provided. He urged us to support their services to help the underprivileged group. In the end, he committed to a donation of USD 2,000 to the Fu Hong Society.

In the afternoon, he received a warm welcome upon arriving in HK and an intercity meeting 2014 was held at Regal Airport Hong Kong the same night. From Macao, AG Synthia, 5 Presidents, DDS Anna and IPP KC also supported the Intercity Meeting. During the Meeting, all TRF new Arch Klumph and new Major donors were recognized. RI President will depart HK tomorrow.
