President 10th Weekly Update

Sep is Rotary Education and Literacy month so let’s continue to promote education advancement for the youth through our service projects.

Thursday meeting highlights:-

– Attendance: 12 Rotarians, St Paul’s School Mr Philip Lai, two UK Summer Camp students and Liz’s guests from the new Macao English Talents Development Association
– We celebrated Sep birthday stars: PP Peter, PP David, PE Sam and Rtn Maeder with PP Peter cutting the cake on their behalf. Please join me in wishing them a very happy, healthy and blessed birthday!
– UK Summer Camp students Eric and Mary gave a very interesting sharing of their 2 weeks stay in Manchester, UK with a photo-packed presentation. Their stay with host families, group visits to Liverpool /Petty Pool’s famous spots, Rotary Club visits and summer camp training enriched their experience and confidence tremendously. This outbound youth annual program once again proved to be a very meaningful educational project
– Did you know that we have a ‘ gang of 4’ Senior Rotarians whose membership service has surpassed 40 years?

We are truly honoured to recognize PP Maneiras ( 49 years), PP ET ( 45 years), PP Choi ( 42 years) and PP Peter ( 41 years ) for
their love and dedication to our Club and Rotary. You are a role model for all the younger Rotarians, especially with your active
attendance throughout so many years. Thanks for sharing with us on ‘What keeps you with Rotary for so long?’ your
thoughts will be featured in a special article in the coming Sep issue of the DG Monthly Newsletter dedicated to Senior Rotarians in Macao.

The meeting also noted and approved the Sep 2 Board decision to nominate PP Stella and PE Sam to serve on the Nominating Committee for DG 2018-19 from from Rotary Club of Macau. Each Area will have only one PP and one non-PP representative to serve on the nominating committee so if a nomination from more than one club in Area 1 Macao is received, there will be a voting amongst the clubs. The result will be announced in Oct.

– Sep 17 ( Thurs) – Speaker: UMSU Rotaractor Kammy Cheong on ‘ Gather with me’ as part of the Rotaract in Rotary program in Sep. Attached is a brief talk intro. Please do come and support our future young leaders. Kammy is PE for RAC of UMSU

– Sep 24 ( Thurs) – Moon Festival BBQ Night at Sands Macao Hotel 6th Floor Reflections Poolside. Pls sign up with PP Stella ASAP to facilitate food arrangement

– Sep 26 ( Sat ) – support ‘ Sands Global Hygiene Kit Build with ‘ Clean the World’ org’ by witnessing the 1-day kit build exercise in afternoon and evening shifts at Venetian Expo Hall A. Our Club is the exclusive service org being invited to perform this role. We need volunteers please contact PP Stella ASAP for sign-up and details. Many thanks.

– Sep 18 ( Fri )- Youth Peace Concert at HK Cultural Center at 8 pm ( Interested Rtns, please contact me)
– Rotary Youth Leadership Award program ( RYLA) resumed this year. Please look out around you for potential youth leaders and help
inform us so we can enrol them before Oct deadline. Attached is its promo flyer
